My students need to increase their math skills and literacy. I can testify to a class set of the book titled "The Number Devil" helping to increase math conceptual knowledge, skills and literacy.

Teachers touch eternity through the lives of their students. Teaching has been a blessing for me. I have been able to connect with students in ways that would not be possible if I were not a teacher. I highly enjoying developing a relationship with my students and forming a partnership where they lead the class
Every year, there are students that come into a new math classroom with a lack of confidence as they experience the stigma against math.
As a teacher, I not only teach math but help students increase their confidence. I have seen so many faces light up, so many hands being raised, so many voices using math terminology and confidence levels rising. These are the things that I cherish that let me know I am a successful teacher.
We have so much fun problem solving by using different resources. Two effective ways that students are always able to increase their grades and ability is by using math literacy and real world applications. I have seen in other classrooms how using "The Number Devil" as a resource has helped students increase literacy, math skills, academics and standardized testing.
The book titled "The Number Devil" was previously used by another teacher I know. I observed how her students were interested in reading the book and participating in class discussions about excerpts from the book. I was amazed how the class conducted themselves and participated. The benefits kept mounting as I saw students were able to understand concepts better and increase scores on assignments and standardized testing.
I would like to help my students increase their math knowledge, literacy and scores using "The Number Devil".
The book gives math history, math terminology, math concepts and imagery. It has become very popular as a resource in math classes. I am confident that a class set would be beneficial for my classroom.
