My students need reading skills games, magnetic fractions, comprehension cards, math cards, and chapter read-aloud's for class discussion and purposeful talk.
We laugh, we learn, we discuss, and we grow as learners. I want my class to understand that there is more than one way to approach problems. My goal for my students at the end of the year is to look back and say wow, I can't believe I was capable of learning all that I did. The sky's the limit!
My students are so eager to learn more and more each day.
They love extension activities and love a challenge. They are full of life and remind me of why I love to teach! Our school is great. We have so much support from our team members and administration. We keep an eye out for each other and for what will work best for one another. We have many helpful parents who are always reaching a hand out to our teachers
My Project
Not all students learn the same way and need to see things in different ways. I would love to incorporate games to bring life to these reading skills. The Reading Details Game, Context Clues Game, Nonfiction Quickie Cards, and Paired passages would be a wonderful addition to our classroom. Students could work in groups/partners and enjoy learning while practicing skills they've been struggling with. I have an abundance of multiplication cards, but it's important for students to see how division and multiplication go hand in hand. Our students could benefit from division flash cards and playing cards. Modeling fractions and comparing fractions is hard to do without large materials for all students to see if there aren't enough hands on materials. The giant magnetic fraction circles and bars make it easier to teach with and for students to demonstrate their understanding on the white board. A variety of read aloud books are wonderful to have so that you can have class discussions.
I want students to have more than one option on learning skills.
I don't want reasoning to be because I didn't have this or that. The more ways students can be exposed to reading and math skills and how they can apply them in everyday life, the more successful the student can be. I never want to a child to feel as if they can't do something. Class discussions are so important in the classroom, with read alouds students are able to display their understanding and enjoyment of books.
