A Magical Day of Reading and Chocolate

My Students

My wonderful students are second graders. We are lucky to have a beautiful country school with a garden and a big field with a track for running. There are nine classrooms: we have transitional kindergarten class through sixth grade and a RSP program.

Our school is small and invested in each student's success.

I feel very lucky to be part of the This school. I have a fantastic group of students (I don't claim to be impartial), supportive parents, a dynamic staff, and two rather cute kittens that patrol the campus.

My Project

My students and I collected a list of books that teach, inspire, and delight. We choose the next book in the series we love (Dragon Masters) and books by authors we love (William Joyce). Students will read about trains, volcanoes, mermaids, the Sandman, and many others. This is a collection of 49 amazing books that will be treasured for many years to come.

We have also asked for chocolate to nibble while we read.

What goes better with books than chocolate? Students are picturing a pajama day, snuggled in with friends, sharing books and devouring chocolate. It will be a marvelous, epic sort of day that will be remembered for many years to come.
