My Students

I am privileged to work at an amazing school in Kentwood, MI. Every day I am faced with 29 smiling faces that come from diverse backgrounds and populations. My students come to me with varying abilities and experiences which makes every single one of them unique and special. I love each and every one of their personalities and traits that create our classroom community. My students are active participants in our classroom and take charge of the teaching in many instances. I strive to have my students take ownership of their learning and to feel empowered to take chances that deepen their understanding of the content.

My Project

Being a kindergarten classroom, we spend most of our time on the floor for whole group instruction, talking partners, and group work. A classroom rug would help create a space to hold our classroom meetings and to create a comfortable space for students to learn. Having a classroom rug would be a tremendous addition to our room! The individual squares keep the students organized and gives them personal space. The colors on the rugs would help to assign group work and talking partners by rows or columns. My students are little learners who love to read on their bellies and spread out on the floor to complete puzzles and games with friends.
