My classroom is full of wonderful students who all range in academic and economic abilities. They are so special to me because they are all so eager and willing to learn on a daily basis when they come to school. I learn from them just as they learn from me. They all care about each other and help one another as often as possible. The kids all know our expectations, routines, and procedures so well, they actually help keep me on track when I have a hectic day involving meetings/training.
My students are just starting their education journey, and I want to help start them off on the right foot with all the proper tools/support.
They are a great group of kids who deserve the best of anything and everything when it comes to their education. I am hopeful that I will be able to get the help necessary to provide them with certain learning tools in the classroom to set the stage for their endless opportunities that lie ahead. The future is in my classroom, and I want them to have what they need.
My Project
A new rug in our classroom will help my students with understanding and retaining their colors, ABC's, and numbers. We sit on the floor quite a bit throughout our day to get a closer look at what we are learning. The rug in our classroom now has been of great use and has helped many students with learning their colors. However, it is looking like more of an antique at this point with stains and wear and tear from the many years of Kindergarten friends.
Along with a new learning rug, I am also asking for new over-the-ear headphones to increase individual, non-distracted learning.
We have iPads in our classroom where students have access to several educational apps. These apps help reinforce and retain the skills that we learn in class. The noise-canceling headphones will help students comprehend/focus better and get more work done versus being distracted with ear buds falling out of their little ears or hearing background noise from the learning going on around the room. These headphones will also be used at our listening center, where students listen and follow along to a story being read to them on the boom box. We have several books on tape and CD, however, we need a way of playing them.
Lastly, the iPad charging station and cords will help in many ways other than the obvious reason of charging the iPads. Students will learn responsibility by keep our technology tools organized and charged for the next use, it will offer less clutter, as well as peace of mind when I think about possible fire hazards with the cords we have now. These kids love coming to school to learn and play, and I just want to help provide the best tools and environment for them to succeed.
