This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The beautiful children of our elementary school come from various backgrounds. Many of our students come from hard working migrant families and are considered low income/high poverty. Unfortunately, these students don’t have the opportunity to experience many of the things that students from surrounding districts do. Our children are a grateful group, and are so good about saying thank you. Our school considers itself to be one big family and we work hard to provide as many experiences as we can for our kids.

My Project

My third graders and I were unable to finish the read aloud, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane during library, due to the abrupt ending of the school year. They are so disappointed. I would LOVE to get them each a copy of their own book to finish reading.

This book is a magical story about kindness, compassion, and self-discovery.

The main theme can be summarized by a quote from the book...

"If you have no intention of loving or being loved, then the whole journey is pointless." -The old doll.

My sweet students would be so excited to receive this book as a surprise this spring!
