My students need a comfortable and educational rug to sit on during our musical storytimes and jam sessions.
This project expired on August 21, 2012.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students love to gather around to hear stories, sing songs, and play instruments. What they don't love, though, is sitting on a cold, hard, floor.
As an elementary music teacher, I teach every single Kinder through Fifth grader in my urban Texas school.
Like children everywhere, my students are intelligent and curious, but tend to be wiggle worms when it comes to sitting in a group on the floor.
The musical rug that I am requesting will have many advantages for my students during our lessons. The numerous musical symbols bordering the edges will allow a designated and comfortable spot for them to sit, and act as a springboard for discussing their musical definitions. The giant treble clef will be a terrific model to use as we learn our lines and spaces.
Consider the long-lasting impact that this will have on my current students, and hundreds of others for years to come.
The first thing that they will see every time they step into my classroom will be this big, beautiful rug inviting them to go on an exciting musical journey.
