Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of special needs students in grades 3, 4 and 5 at a Title I school in Central Florida. My class is made up of both boys and girls. My students are eager to learn new things and enjoy learning new things.

Many of my students are 1-2 years behind academically.

In my classroom, the goal is to close the achievement gap and to work on their social skills.

About seventy-five percent of the students come from low-income households. All of the students at this Title I school are on the government free/reduced-price lunch program. We’re currently enrolling students displaced by Hurricane Maria and Irma.

My Project

I have a motivated group of students who enjoy reading in school and at home. Each of my students are working hard at meeting their reading goal for the school year. We are quickly running out of books in our classroom library. My students keep asking "when are we getting new books"? Please help me get the resources needed to fulfill their need for new books and their desire for learning.

These books will continue to encourage their love for reading while improving comprehension and fluency.

These books will be used in the classroom during their independent reading time and students will be allowed to take their book home so they can share with the parents and younger siblings.
