My students need books, books, and more books; books that capture their imaginations and open their worlds to new adventures. Reading is the foundation to having meaningful and successful experiences as a student.
My classroom family is made up of 31 amazing third graders, 17 girls and 14 boys, that are excited about learning and ready to excel.
By adding engaging and complex texts to my classroom, I am sure to increase student achievement!
Each of my 31 students have unique learning styles and personal needs. I want all 31 of my friends to love to read! I want my students to develop a passion for reading and all the possibilities reading can provide.
Every child should have the opportunity to dig deeper in their learning with the help of a good book.
I want every student that walks through my classroom door, to become independent readers and writers.
I love introducing my friends to great authors that 'hook' my students and I from the beginning of the book and leaves us wanting more at the end. Mentor Texts and admirable authors expose my growing readers and writers to a world of feelings, life lessons, experiences, and wisdom. Through books, growing readers develop communication skills and builds important personal traits that last a lifetime.
I am asking for forty picture books for read alouds and units of study that will help support our learning of our standards.
