My Students

Our school is on a mission to ensure that all learners are engaged in rigorous tasks that create opportunities for students to demonstrate higher-order thinking and skills in their work. We are working to help students read, write, speak, and listen on a level that prepares them for success in college and career.

"Rigor, without relevance, is simply hard." - Kylene Beers

We are striving to enhance our English curriculum to be more culturally relevant and engaging for all students.

My Project

These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time. They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.

6th grade can be an especially challenging year for many students as they transition to middle school.

It is vitally important for them to see themselves in the texts we study throughout the year.
