Help me give my students books that can help teach writing. These books will help us in teaching our new writing curriculum and support students who struggle in writing.
My first grade students are creative, thoughtful and have a hunger to learn. Each student in my class presents and shows great dedication and devotion to achieving highest grades while striving to expand their learning on a daily basis despite obstacles they may encounter. They come to school each day excited to learn new information. Our classroom is their second home, a place that is their own, where they feel safe and love to learn. Our classroom is their biggest resource in the school, they use the materials and tools in our room to learn and to become more independent and take ownership in their learning. They are working hard everyday to continue working toward their goals.
My Project
These new books will help support our new Teachers College Writing Curriculum. The books I have chosen will show and give children ideas on what to write if they are having difficulties. Each book is geared to help students overcome an obstacle they might face when writing, such as "How do I begin", "What do I do when I am stuck?", or even "What do I do with an idea". Books such as "Good Dog Carl" shows a reader a story can be told not only by words, but also by illustrations. The authors of these books have created stories to help and teach children what it takes to become great readers and writers. I am excited to add these books to my classroom library as an additional support.
