My students are wonderful girls and boys who are respectful and work hard to learn. They are well-behaved and have bright futures. I teach in a Headstart-12th-grade school. Their parents are hard-working people who struggle to make ends meet. Because of the low economic area and poor families, I ask for very little on the school supply list. I catch myself spending a lot of my own personal money on classroom needs, but I know that it benefits my students and that one day, they will make a difference in this world.
My Project
My students will use the Toshiba Satellite laptop computer to complete partner reading activities and to perform research on topics that go along with our units of study in reading. I teach 5th graders, and the laptop will help them be able to take a "Look Around the World" and find facts and areas of interest that go along with what they are studying in reading class. They can also create partner reports, print them, and share them with their reading class.
My students are not afforded the ability to take field trips and have very limited learning materials at school.
Their home environments often are not enriched with computers and books so there only ability to explore the world is at school with the resources that I have in my classroom.
Please help my students take a "Look Around the World" by providing them a laptop computer. You will be enriching their learning for a lifetime and will be giving them experiences that will help them foster computer and research skills that they can one day use on a job. Thank you for your help!
