I teach math, science and social studies to fourth grade students in a rural Title I school. I am excited about my new group of students, who are innovative thinkers.
I am passionate about preparing students to be successful in their journey to becoming the leaders and problem solvers of tomorrow.
We are a small rural school, with less than 300 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Our teachers work hard to use engaging teaching methods and materials, but the lack of available funding is an issue due to our size. Our goal is to add motivation and excitement to learning each and every day. Resources are not easy to come by, but necessary to foster the creativity and problem solving skills necessary for success.
My Project
The school year is in full force and we have already completed our first quarter! Classroom expectations are in place, schedules are now the norm, and learning is in full effect. Now that the school year is rolling, there are several small items our upper elementary students need to implement new tech, and also small items that are already needing to be replaced.
There are several small technology gadgets our students need to to get full utilization of Google Classroom collaborations.
Some students will benefit from headphones so they can focus on curriculum that is presented audibly online. Additionally, wireless mice will help students to manipulate their Chromebook productively. It is also our goal to provide several classrooms with computer microphones so students can be actively aware of noise level in the classroom. This will serve dual purpose as some classes will use the microphones during classroom Skype sessions with other classes ocated in other districts. Our students also desperately need a few new basketballs for recess and a new air pump to keep the basketballs in great working order. All of the items being requested are small things, but items that will keep classrooms running smoothly. As you can see, " A Little Goes A Long Way" and our kiddos will truly appreciate your support in this project.
