Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are greeted at the door every single morning. They are asked how their day is and they immediately run to greet their classmates. They are reminded throughout the day that they are Kindergarten role models, as they are constantly setting the example for others.
My classroom is full of 21 energetic students who see the bright side in everything they do.
They come from a low income neighborhood, and many from Spanish-speaking families. They come in with minimal knowledge of how books work, and very little knowledge of the English alphabet and the letter names and sounds. With parents who speak very little or no English, we must take any route possible to help our students reach grade-level standards.
My Project
I have ordered colored printer ink to use too\ print out centers for students to use during the day. In order to create effective centers, it is important that they can be printed using color. Centers can be made for both ELA and math instruction.
Being given a chance to print colorful centers makes the work much more engaging for the students and keeps them engaged for longer.
Being able to print in color will allow me to reuse centers and to print posters to hang around the classroom that are much more eye catching. We can also print pictures to use in our writing.
