My students need a comfortable yet attractive rug for our classroom gathering area.

"There's no place like home." ~Dorothy, Wizard of Oz Each year I try to provide my students with a classroom that will feel like a home.
I teach at a Title 1 school in a suburb outside of Baltimore.
For many of my students, their "home" changes on a monthly basis. Some students can live in three different homes, each with a different family member, over the course of a school year. Due to the transient population that frequents my school, I try to make my classroom as cozy for my students as possible. My classroom will be their home for a whole year until they go onto the next grade. They deserve their classroom to be as cozy, warm, and comfortable as possible. After all, who can learn without being comfy? I know I can't.
In the front of my classroom, their is a large empty space. This large empty space is right in front of our classroom dry-erase board. Frequently, I ask my students to sit on the floor in this empty space since this is where much of the learning takes place. Although my students are only asked to sit on the hard floor for no longer than 20 minutes, I can tell by their squirming bodies that it is not very comfortable, and due to their squirmy bodies, my students full attention is not on me or what they're learning. By filling this empty space with a warm and cozy rug, I hope that my students will not only be more comfortable but will be able to learn as much as they can to the best of their ability.
I am hoping that this beautiful rug will provide my students with a sense of home but also elicit a warm cozy feeling that is needed in any classroom to be a successful learner.
After all, "there's no place like home".
