This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Working in an urban district, you have to find ways to make your learning creative. With the students that I come in contact with, that is NOT a difficult feat. I teach about 60 5th grade students. they are so imaginative and explorative, even with the limited supplies and resources they have had.

My students come from different countries, different educational backgrounds, but they all have one thing in common.... they want to learn and grow and I want to help them!

My Project

During our school year, we read a lot of informational text, but I noticed that my students were lacking a literary connection that was still considered complex. My student need to be expsed to all types of writing.

Since we are studying Biodiversity, The Jungle Book is a wonderful way for my students to see how the animals, human, and jungle all rely on each other for survival.

Using this, with our informational text, will give my students that balance that that need. They will be able to really understand, in a narrative, how two or more species must find a way to work and live together.
