I am a third grade teacher at PS 169 in Brooklyn, New York. This school is a Title I school in a lower socio-economic community where 93 percent of the children receive free breakfast and lunch every day. Many of these children are English Language Learners and their parents are immigrants who do not speak the language. Throughout the school year, my class will do many projects in all of the different subject areas. These projects usually require a lot of effort and time on the part of the children. This year, we will be doing projects such as making non-fiction picture books on animals, completing a class poetry anthology, making collages on the different countries we study, making postcards, and completing autobiographies. In the past, the children have been very excited and proud of their final projects. I would love it if the children could keep these projects forever. However, the paper they use usually gets ripped or begins to fade after a while. If we could have a laminating machine to keep in the classroom, we could laminate our pages so they will last. I know this will really motivate the children to do their absolute best and take pride in producing work to the best of their ability. Although I would love to, it is not possible for me to take every project they make to a store to be laminated. This could be very costly. This laminating machine would be a wonderful asset to my classroom. I would like to take the time to thank you in advance for your consideration. Lakeshore is offering a laminating machine for $249.00 and the laminating pouches for $19.95. This would be a wonderful and useful asset to my classroom.
