Our music and choir students range in grade from K-12. They are engaging, cheerful, helpful, and friendly. They enjoy the constructivist, hands-on approaches required to create group performance projects and have recently begun to note the synergistic results of their combined individual efforts.
Our students are team players who celebrate the successes of their classmates.
As we are a PK-12 building, the students depend on each other: the older students provide the younger students guidance, modeling, and watchful eyes; the younger students provide the older students hugs, love notes, and encouragement.
Our students are willing to try new approaches, eager to please, and want to be positive contributors to the benefit of the group. We love our students!
Ukuleles are perfect for kids! They're small, light, easy to manipulate (nylon strings), easy to learn (only 4 strings), and fun to play. 5 commonly used uke chords only require one finger! In short, ukes allow easy access to entry-level chording, composing, and creating while fostering musical confidence and creativity.
This fall we aim daily to get instruments in the hands of every student.
Last year we started collecting donated guitars, accordions, and drums as well as creating classroom instruments including overtone flutes, slide flutes, and pan flutes. A gift of 12 ukuleles would ensure that every student will be a part of the band!
