Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fourth graders are all learning their second language. Some are learning English as native Spanish speakers. Some are learning Spanish as native English speakers. They attend a Title I school and the majority of them qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Despite the obstacles they face, they all enter my classroom with smiles on their faces, ready to translanguage their way through learning.
My students are gritty, resourceful and passionate.
They consistently rise to the expectations I set for them. They believe in themselves and each other. We work as a team to be better than we were yesterday. They inspire me daily!
My Project
As the year has progressed, I have accumulated a rich and diverse classroom library that my students have instant access to. However, the bookshelf that houses those books leaves much to be desired! Our current bookshelf leans precariously and needs support from milk crates. The sturdy ECR4Kids Birch 5-Section School Classroom Storage Cabinets will serve as the ideal replacement and will make our classroom library much more inviting.
We need a bookshelf we can rely on; one that will take care of our precious classroom library.
In addition to the bookshelves, the sturdy plastic bins will keep our books organized by genre and interest.
