Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine not knowing what it is like to visit a library. My students typically only experience a library setting in the classroom and at our school. I would love to add a rug and colorful pillows for students to "cuddle up" and enjoy a good book.
My students are of a low economic background.
Many students are being raised by grandparents or in foster families. Most are within walking distance of the school and are unable to visit a local library. These students strive to be the best they can be.
My Project
My students need a rug and pillows to create a comfortable library. Having a "special" place to read and enjoy with friends is what I am striving to create. The students will be able to enjoy the library to buddy read, independently read, fluency read, and research. Students read leveled books to take comprehension tests at their own reading level. An area designed for reading will accomplish just that.
A trip to the library isn't too far away when it is right in your own classroom.
Please help me provide an area that my students can appreciate and enjoy. A place they can read and learn. A library they can love.
