Help me give my students a 4th grade leveled library filled with books at their reading level along with their favorite Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and Roald Dahl.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are smart, energetic, and loving. They love learning and being taught. About 98% of my students come from neighborhoods that do not foster positive self-image. They love being in a classroom that promotes kindness and positivity. They are the most creative students that any teacher could ask for. I love coming into work and seeing those beaming faces.
My students love to laugh and joke.
The pure joy that they get from learning is simply amazing. Providing them with educational experiences that they have not experienced yet makes me so glad to be their teacher.
My Project
My students come from homes where food and necessities come before educational resources. Because of this, I would like to provide them with a library in their own classroom! This would be a place where all of my students could go to get lost in stories that take them out of their own lives for even just a moment. The leveled library would provide so many of my students the opportunity to read books that they can comprehend.
Seeing the faces of my students being captivated by characters in stories that seem as real as them, makes having a library worth it!
This library would give my students options that promote reading for pleasure instead of reading to answer a test question. Providing my class with choices in the literature that make them eager to read makes my heart smile!
