This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students love to read! As an art teacher, I have so many artists with amazing stories to tell to the kids, and they love to hear them.
My students love to hear about different people and cultures different from their own, and they are interested in why artists make their work.
My students are always asking for a new artist to look up online or how they can find new artwork. They are always excited when I introduce them to new artists!
My Project
I think these books will help my students connect to artists whose ideas are sometimes hard for elementary students to grasp. I think having all of these books as learning materials in the classroom will help them get excited about new sections and feel connected to each artist we learn about.
With this library, I want to make art more accessible to my students who do not get to go to museums. I want my students to be able to read these books and connect with the characters and artists featured in them on a personal level.
