Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a diverse group of young people. They love to learn and love to interact during lessons. They enjoy hands-on activities and helping each other.
My students come from many backgrounds and cultures.
We are a 100% Title I school, and all students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many students speak a language other than English as a first language, and sometimes working out a concept on an electronic device helps them to have a deeper and better understanding of what we are working on.
My Project
Throughout the past two years, I've intermittently used mindfulness with my students after recess or when they are feeling very antsy. I also use it myself in my personal life when I'm feeling stressed. I would like to become certified in mindfulness so I can better use and teach the techniques to my students, who are already feeling stressed about school and life in fourth grade. By learning different ways to combat stress early in life, my students will have a tool that they can use throughout their lives when things get hectic, overwhelming, or just too much to handle right now.
