Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second and third grade students are energetic, creative, eager and enthusiastic learners. They all strive to overcome mild to moderate disabilities and close the gap between themselves and their peers. They love science and art most of all and learn best when core subjects are linked to real-life experiences.
Despite their learning challenges, my students are not afraid to take risks with their learning.
My students have created with me a safe, caring environment in which to learn and grow. An enriched curriculum provides the best opportunities for my students to learn new concepts and retain that information.
My Project
This whale watching cruise will provide my students with an opportunity to view whales, dolphin, sea lions, and many other marine animals from the safety of a large whale watching ship. An American Cetacean Society Naturalist will provide onboard narration, education, and provide post cruise activities to enrich the whale watching field trip experience for my students.
This whale watching cruise will not only focus on viewing large whales & dolphins, but will cover the complete marine ecosystem, which offers a unique learning environment that most of my students will be exposed to for the very first time.
In the classroom I strive to share my love of marine life with my students with the hope of spreading awareness of cetaceans and instill a feeling of stewardship of the ocean and its marine life.
