Job opportunities are not plentiful and many families live below the poverty line. Our school is a safe haven for our students.
They come from a variety of backgrounds with a diverse set of academic and behavioral needs. Because they face so many challenges at home, my goal is to create a safe and loving environment for them to learn and thrive in.
My Project
A new laptop would be such a wonderful addition to our classroom. My first graders currently have one lonely desktop computer and one iPad in our classroom. This barely allows children to rotate with much frequency during the week.
With the addition of this laptop, more children would be able to play literacy games, listen to stories, and complete math activities for our guided math centers.
Many of my students do not have access to technology at home. We are slowly increasing the amount of technology in our classroom, one device at a time. This would allow more children to have access to technology to balance out the learning options available.
A Lenovo laptop would reach so many more children who are visual learners and need material to be reviewed in a different way! Computers should not be the sole means of instruction, but what an awesome way to enrich a classroom with creative games, stories, and activities.
