I teach a third grade inclusion class in East Flatbush Brooklyn. Being a special education teacher, I know that all kids learn differently and they need a wide array of opportunities to learn and be successful! As a teacher we have many roles and responsibilities. One of them is as an Academic Intervention Teacher. Students who may be in need of extra help in specific areas can get the help they need. Good teachers are able to differentiate instruction, group students based on their needs, and deliver the instructional content they need. In my classroom we use a program called Wilson. The Wilson Intervention System is a program geared to help students learn how to read. Many of my students have difficulty reading at grade appropriate levels, difficulty in fluency, and comprehension. Wilson will help them to decode and encode words. I try to build lifelong readers and writers. I am asking for a laminating machine to help with the upkeep of our materials. We have to use these materials again as they are not consumable. A laminating machine would prove to be beneficial in utilizing all of our materials throughout the entire school year. Students can also create and make books and other special projects with a laminating machine. Thank you.
