A Kindle Can Open the Eyes to Multiple Texts to Students!
My students need to get more reading materials into their hands. By offering them digital technology, 2 Kindle Fires with cases, their options of multiple forms of literacy will be unending!
Being a brand new teacher to third grade this year, I do not have the budget to enrich their learning with a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts. With changing expectations, adding technology can encourage students to want to read by providing different text at their reading levels easily!
I have a wonderful group of third graders.
They are hardworking, energetic, and wanting to learn. I want to be able to nurture their passion for learning and reading by being able to provide reading materials that will engage them to further their knowledge, ability, and fulfill their desire to be lifelong learners.
My Project
I would like to include Kindles into my classroom to further encourage their reading at independent reading levels. Through technology their is so much more we can offer to our students. I want to continue to inspire them to want more out of their education and take ownership for their learning. Having Kindles will allow me to have students work individually as I work with small groups of students to develop their reading skills. My students will learn how to find fiction and nonfiction text that they can read or listen to for enjoyment. Once they do this, they can also create conversations with their classmates to demonstrate their understanding.
I want to inspire my students that reading is an important life skill.
They will be expected to read multiple forms of text throughout their life to better understand the world around them. With limited funding for my classroom and being new to this grade level, I want to do anything to help out my kiddos!
