Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A keyboard will allow me to better support, my students, by being able to take notes during reading/writing conferences with students, professional development, and build upon the technology literacy of students. Students will be able to use the tools interactively during small group sessions.
By donating to our project, you will equip me and my students with the necessary tools to increase student engagement and hands-on learning.
This keyboard will also allow me to make screen recording and typing easier so that I can give parents tutorials on how to use apps at home and have to also do typing. This is important so that the support transcends classroom walls and supports parents in their journey as they navigate new technology to support their children.
Furthermore, as we begin the new year, we will be starting our non-fiction unit. With a keyboard, students will be able to start practicing using technology as a tool for research. This work has to start at a young age so that they feel confident in using technology as a tool.
Finally, a keyboard will allow me to switch more fluidly between note-taking during professional development and staff development at my school. As a Cotsen Fellow, I have the opportunity to engage in additional professional development and observations to reflect on my teaching practices in the classroom. I value professional development because these opportunities allow me to grow as an educator and take this wisdom back to my students and support their growth as scholars.
