Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a barrier-free Title 1 school that is home to over 1500 students with over 70 languages spoken. It is a very warm school with an active and supportive parent body. It is a wonderful place to learn - for both students and staff! My students are loving, compassionate, and always ready and willing to learn. They put a smile on my face each and every day and I cannot imagine having any other career. This is what I was meant to do! My class is very culturally diverse and most of my children struggle with reading and are at least 1 year below grade level. It is very difficult for me, as their mentor to see my children struggle. However, they have a positive attitude and a fierce determination to overcome any challenges that they might face whether it be in school or at home. They amaze me with their resilience and I am in awe of their determination.
I am in awe of their perseverance and I would do anything to ensure that they achieve academic success.
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my student's learning as these small tokens are a reminder that their hard work is noticed and appreciated. As most of the students in my school are below poverty level, these small gifts will be a reminder that their effort has not gone unnoticed. When these small items are coupled with praise and a smile their learning outcomes will reach new levels. These small items will instill an appreciation that their effort has been recognized and celebrated. Additionally, these items will encourage detailed discussions between parents and their children about their school day.
