Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

As a teacher in a low income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with severe challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges I work to keep my students focused on what is important - their education. My students love to read and enjoy the positive attention they receive daily. Although I cannot provide and protect them at home I make sure that every day they walk into my classroom I provide for them and make sure they feel safe. I hope to provide them with the best academic experience possible.

My Project

Technology plays a positive role in children's development and learning. Through the use of technology, I have access to more innovative and improved teaching methods that allow me to promote learning and create an active learning environment for my students. I am asking for an iPad for my Kindergarten students because children in this early stage of life benefit from the use of technology such as an iPad because it helps them to work on critical skills in reading, math, and science.

The thoughtful use of technology in my classroom will engage my students in key skills such as play, self-expression, and computational thinking which will support later success across all academic disciplines and help maintain my young children’s natural curiosity.

As I continue on the quest of making my classroom a technological landscape of learning please help my early learners gain access to this technology to explore new worlds, make believe, and actively engage in fun and challenging activities.
