Students from a small Oklahoma town are the most polite and the hardest workers. While not all of them may be college bound, they still do their best on their school work and perform on higher levels than students I've taught in other schools. Being their teacher means a great deal to me, so I want to do what I can to provide something that will last with them. While our school is a one-to-one, meaning that every student has a laptop. Many of them have found that if they can actually hold the books, their reading comprehension rises.
Everyone remembers their first journey through Middle Earth to destroy the One Ring in Mordor, a voyage that takes readers from the Shire through Rivendale and into the Mines of Moria. Through the Fellowship, readers gain an understanding of good versus evil that can be found in few other places in literature.
I'm looking for a chance to guide my students on their first trip through The Fellowship of the Ring, the novel that helped spark the fantasy genre.
An exploration through British literature cannot be complete without a look at Tolkien's most memorable work. My students will read these books and get a better understanding of Fantasy literature.
