This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My children have a high interest in learning. Students come from high poverty neighborhoods, which results in a large percentage of free or reduced-price lunch recipients. My children are beginning to learn how to become life-long learners.
My students need materials so they are able to complete learning at home with their teacher.
This is their first year of school. They are starting their school journeys. As their teacher, I strive to give them as many new learning opportunities as possible in their first year of school. I teach them to be independent and responsible students. Since this year has been virtual from the beginning, it has been more difficult to make sure that my students have the materials that they need to be successful.
My Project
My young students love to create with their hands. They love to make new things. I would love for my students to be able to use watercolors to paint. Some of my students have never been able to do this activity.
The new art supplies would allow them to be creative and try new things.
My students have not experienced using clay as well. This would be a new opportunity for them to explore.
I would love for them to experience using markers and the tagboard would be heavier so that the markers do not go through their paper so easily.
