My students need the Match-a-Sound set and other alphabet materials to help them correctly identify letters, correctly form/write letters and make correct letter sounds.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from a multitude of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. They range in ages from five to seven, speak three different languages and represent three different countries.
No matter the differences within our class, each and every student walks into class everyday with a smile on their face, eager to learn.
Everyday is an adventure with my friends, an adventure I am so lucky to be a part of.
The students at my school come from many different backgrounds. Thirty percent of students are English Language Learners (meaning English is not their primary language spoken). Ninety percent of the students in my school live at or below the poverty line. All of students receive free breakfast, lunch and snack while at school everyday.
My Project
Most of my students come into kindergarten knowing very little about the alphabet, letter recognition and sounds. Many have not been to school before, so the exposure to letters and letter sounds has yet to be introduced. It is my goal to have all my students master their letter identification and letter sounds by the end of the school year. I am able to achieve this by using engaging, hands-on learning centers. I have requested resources such as the Alphabet Sound Teaching Tubs, Match-a-Sound Phonetic Awareness kit, Letter Recognition Instant Learning Center, Learning Letters Activity Centers, Tactile Letters and Alphabet Rockets. The resources requested will allow my students to practice letter and sound recognition daily in an engaging manner. Activities such as these will capture the interest of students and help to ensure that they will master letter and sound recognition!
Kindergarten is the foundation of one's education, What better way to encourage lifelong learners than engaging activities?
Your generous donation will help my students learn how to identify letters and sound recognition. You will be helping my students to begin building their foundation of becoming independent readers and a love for learning! Thank you for your support!
