Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are outgoing; they are creative, and they are explorers. They are scientists, architects, artists, and storytellers. They are four and five-years-old. My students are just beginning their school experience, and they deserve materials that show them that learning is fun!
All of the students attending our Title I primary school come from a variety of backgrounds and speak a variety of languages- nine different languages, to be exact.
Often, our students may be faced with many different kinds of challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. I want to provide materials for my students that will help lay the foundation for them to become successful, lifetime learners.
My Project
My students need extra practice recognizing, naming, writing, and making sounds of the letters in the alphabet. With standards in pre-k and kindergarten becoming more demanding, I want to make sure that my sweet babies are ready to be successful in kindergarten next year.
It's no secret that young children learn best through play, which is why I have asked for fun, hands on materials for helping them learn letters from the alphabet.
The Float and Find Alphabet Bubbles and Letter Link Crabs can be put in our water table for a fun way to practice letter recognition, identification, and sounds at center time. During large group time, the Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs will give students something to put their hands on when they are being taught about letters and the sounds they make.
The Construct-a-Letter Activity Center and Build-a-Letter Activity Center will be fun ways for my students to learn about letters in their small group learning centers. Students can also use the Handwriting Without Tears Slide, Stamp, and See Screens to make letters with magnets independently at small group center time.
These materials will be used throughout our day to help my young learners learn to recognize, name, write, and make sounds of all of the letters in the alphabet, and in turn will set them up for a successful year in kindergarten. Thank you so much for your help!
