Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a great group of Kindergarteners who are ready to learn. They are troopers when it comes to participating in our new "all day" kindergarten program.
My students are thirsty for knowledge, and they have their own goals that they want to achieve.
Unfortunately, our school is located in an area which has an economic challenge that parents and students face every day. Approximately 95% of our students are on free or reduced price lunch. For many, English is their second language, and many do not have technology in their homes. Our school will soon implement the Leader In Me program which helps students see the greatness in themselves. My students will become the leaders of tomorrow...today!
My Project
My students are encouraged to use resources around the room to help facilitate their learning. When students are working on a math program on their iPads, they need manipulatives to help solve mathematical problems. Students can also access resources such as number lines, alphabet, paper, and more to refer to when completing an assignment. The idea is to encourage the freedom to access these resources on their own when needed. Having a central location where we can store resources would help students be proactive and independent. We need a mobile 10-bin storage center. The storage center would be placed in a central location for students to access independently.
