Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach in an inclusive classroom with both general and special needs students. The classroom environment I try to foster is one of community and sharing. Each student is responsible for helping the class grow educationally and socially. The reading levels in the classroom range from second to fifth grade. Therefore, the children and I require an extensive classroom library to meet the needs of each student. Since we span such an extensive range of levels and books we need bookcases to house them. Our library furniture currently consists of broken bookshelves, plastic crates and cardboard boxes. Unfortunately, the school has no funds to improve this situation. We take pride in our books and want bookcases for our library so the books are both accessible and properly maintained.
