My students need a classroom environment that is comfortable, organized and engaging in order for them to feel at ease taking risks with their learning. Students will feel at home with this cozy decor and organization including a rug, stools, cushions, and more.
This year, I will have 18 new 1st graders who are excited and eager to continue learning. These students will have a variety of different needs, abilities, and ways of learning. We are located in Port Orange, Florida at a Title One school. Therefore, my students come from a diverse set of backgrounds and deserve to have safe, homey and fun place to foster their learning.
My main goal is to create a classroom setting that is comfortable, organized and engaging for my students.
A classroom should be a home away from home and we are excited to make it just that - our second home!
My Project
My students need a classroom that is organized, inviting, and functional in order to foster a positive and welcoming classroom climate. As a first year teacher, I am starting fresh with a bare classroom. I would LOVE to provide the type of classroom my students deserve; however, I do not have the means to do so.
In order to create a classroom that makes students feel at home, they need a classroom that is organized and cozy.
To be organized, our class need bins to store our books and everyday classroom items. This would make our classroom library and classroom uniform and easy to locate what they are looking for, as well as, keep our areas clean. To add a home like touch to our library and classroom, students would benefit from floor pillows and stools as a means of flexible seating during their reading time and small group instruction.
During whole group instruction, my students need a soft rug to sit on. This whole group time will be a time when students can come together with a common purpose of learning, growing and having fun. When they are comfortable, they will be more willing to take risks and express their creativity. To boost engagement, our classroom would love to have fun lighting to set the mood and tone for each activity we are doing.
Thank you so much DonorsChoose.org for helping our classroom to become the welcoming classroom I know it can be. I know my kiddos will continue to grow and learn with a classroom that is cozy, organized, and engaging.
