Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are passionate about learning! They love to come to school and they love to learn new things. Some of my students come from single parent homes, high poverty environments, or homes that speak two or three languages. Some of my students come to me with high behavioral and attention needs or have had no exposure to a school setting.

Since some of my students don't have the best home environment, I try to make our classroom a home away from home.

When we enter our classroom we are a family who tries our best to take care of one another by showing each other love, pushing each other to do better, and catching each other when we fall.

My Project

In order for students to be successful in the classroom, they need to be comfortable. They need to know they are loved and that they are in a place where they can be themselves! In order to make my students comfortable while learning I would like to change the environment of our classroom. No more traditional desks, tables, or chairs!

By adding a comfortable chair to our classroom setting, students will feel like they are at home when they are learning at school!

When my students are comfortable they will be more receptive to the learning that takes place in a classroom and more productive. By providing a comfortable place to sit, as opposed to traditional chairs, my students will be more engaged in the learning.
