Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students in North Carolina vary from 2nd grade all the way to 5th grade. The students I teach have learning challenges that can make learning challenging but not impossible.
My students are exceptional and very eager to learn.
They enjoy being creative, innovative, and working collaboratively. They are encouraged not to be afraid to dream big. They may need to jump some hurdles in order to reach the finish line but they are up to the challenge. In the classroom, I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, alternative seating and learning styles to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! As a class we love to celebrate each others victories whether big or small.
My Project
The headphones will allow my students to listen to books online without distracting and disrupting the other students or the teacher while working with small groups. I have access to laptops but not headphones and it can be distracting when several students are on a laptop listening to different books.
The reading comprehension journals and the writing journals will allow my students to have access to material that encourage creativity by expressing themselves through writing, not only from what they read, but also from their personal experiences.
My students already show a desire to be good readers and writers and this project will allow them to enrich their experience.
