This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I co-teach the third graders at our school, and my classroom specializes in science and math skills. My students are creative, eager to learn, and are always searching for more ways to apply their skills. Many of the students have been going to school together for multiple years, and with the recent COVID restrictions spent much of their time virtual. Upon returning to the building our students will need to spend a lot of time working on building back up their skills as well as learning to be independent learners once again.
My Project
This year I will be in charge of teaching math to all the third grade students. These math manipulatives will ensure hands-on experience with the math concepts we are working on and give students an engaging year with the materials. We will be able to play games to practice our skills as well as use the various manipulatives to practice what we are working on. Students have spent the last year having to come up with pictures in their head to go with the math and these materials will allow them to SEE what is happening right in front of them!
