I am going to be a second-year head coach to our club lacrosse team that will have at least fifteen, low to middle-income freshmen-seniors. While this is not the first year of the program, it is still a young and growing sport in our region of West Virginia.
Our lacrosse program is in dire need of a culture change.
Over the last season, there were fights, arguments, and way too many penalties. By building a strong program based on playing fast on the field but slow in your mind, I hope to get the players to channel their emotions into positivity on the field, in the classroom, and in every other aspect of their lives.
Over our first season, I have seen numerous improvements in playing and behaviors on the field. By holding my team to a high standard I hope to create a winning and caring lacrosse culture.
My Project
Over the last two years, I have been growing the amount of equipment I have for my lacrosse team. This allows me to give all students an opportunity to play without the financial burden of having to buy all their equipment.
My vision for our team is finally coming to fruition thanks to the wonderful donors that have supported my team.
Because of the help, we have received we have more students than ever interested in playing lacrosse. With this sudden influx of interest, I am in need of a few more helmets for my players to use. We are also in need of specialized goalie protection for my two goalies that I will have this year.
