My students need more books in our classroom library to expand their literacy skills and love of reading!

As a teacher in the School District of Philadelphia, I take on many roles to support my students. Some days it feels like I wear too many hats to balance on my head all at once! I work hard for them so that at the end of the day, I can say that I have done everything in my power to support my scholars.
All of my students deserve to feel supported and successful in their learning during their time at school.
I teach kindergarten in a Title 1 school so all of my students receive free breakfast and lunch each day. They are also eligible for school support programs such as the Ronald McDonald Dental Mobile. The diverse population of my school means that many of my students are learning English as their second language. All of my kindergartners have expressed their love of school and learning and I know they would appreciate any gift that could benefit our classroom.
The Literacy Block model at my school suggests at least three read aloud stories per day as well as independent reading time for students on a daily basis.
Our current classroom library is very small and does not give the students much variety.
Many of the books I selected will allow me to plan for thematic units to build my students' learning through intentional read aloud time and provide them with more variety when they are searching for books that they want to learn to read on their own! Books such as "Pete the Cat" and "No, David!" are exciting to my students and will promote their growing interest in reading and the world of books!
