I have the privilege of looping with my students, and I could not be more excited. My first grade students are nothing short of amazing! They come from varying backgrounds, many from low income homes, single parent homes, some live with adults other than their parents, yet they all have one thing in common. They all come to school with a desire to learn.
What are we doing for morning work, is a common question I hear in the mornings.
I want to give my students more than just a worksheet to start the day. I want to provide my students with a variety of activities in the morning, things that will make them excited to be at school and ready to learn.
My Project
My students are in need of more hands on activities to do when they arrive in the morning. I would like for them to have activities that will get their creative juices flowing while also encouraging collaboration with friends. By using the PlayStix, K'Nex tools, and Picasso Tiles, students will be able to use their imaginations to create a variety of things. Once these things have been created, they will be able to share about their creation and write about it in their journals.
Creativity is something that is lacking in our room.
I want to give my students every opportunity to use their creative thinking skills while also improving their fine motor skills.
