This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In the school district, we are following Acceleration, Recovery, and Restoration mentality to help students transition from the pandemic back to school. The pandemic has really hurt some students with their education and it is time to improve and fill in the gaps they have. Even though education is top priority, the students do need movement breaks, which is where this donation will help.

Our public school is a very large, diverse urban school district with over 16,000 students.

Our students come from a variety of economic backgrounds, with over 60% of the students receiving free lunch. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics. Each of their classes is 60 minutes in length, and it is a challenge for any student to sit still for that long.

Bringing technology into the classroom is one of my goals for this year and going forward. There is so much that can be completed on a graphing calculator, that students need access to them in order to learn it. Having a class set would help reach this goal!

My Project

Bringing technology into the classroom is so important, especially during these times after the pandemic. There are so many lessons I can teach and show students using the graphing calculators, but we need a reliable classroom set of them. Many students do not have the financial means to purchase one on their own so having the ability to use one in the classroom is critical.

Graphing calculators have so many features that students can use now and in the next four years of math classes in high school.

The class set would be a great way to help students learn the basic functions and once we learn the material by hand, we will learn how to use the calculator for that. The charging stations are critical since the calculators do not run on batteries.
