At AFES, our students are the best of the best. Coming from a variety of backgrounds, students work together to create a caring school culture focused on safety, respect, enthusiasm, acceptance, and responsibility.
Together, staff and parents are committed to the mission of preparing the students for a successful, productive, and purposeful life.
We believe that every student is unique and can learn. While at our school, students become self-reliant, independent thinkers and problem solvers while learning to respect themselves and others.
As One Team we will listen to, trust, respect and collaborate with students, parents, and members of our community. With One Goal in mind, we will do everything possible to reach all learners as we see No Limits in a child's ability to achieve success. We believe in making every day count and emphasizing partnerships to support individual achievement. At AFES we are "One Team, One Goal, No Limits!"
My Project
In July, the National Network of State Teachers of the Year will be convening in Las Vegas at the 2018 National Teacher Leadership Conference: Teaching Tomorrow's Leaders. Educators from across the nation will unite to consider, discuss and make progress on four problems of practice selected for study by its members. This year the problems of practice are 1. TEACHER LEADERSHIP: How can we build our leadership skills and create and support teacher leadership structures that benefit all students? 2. STUDENT ENGAGEMENT: How can we create more engaging learning environments so that all students are motivated to grow? 3. EDUCATIONAL EQUITY: How can we examine our own biases and provide equitable learning environments for all students? 4. SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL LEARNING: How can we equip all educators to teach fundamental social and emotional competencies as part of their regular instruction?
By attending this conference I will be able to learn from the most amazing teachers from across the country and bring back all of my learning to the teachers from my school, district, and state.
Additionally, as an NNSTOY Empatico Fellow I will be able to gather at the conference on the afternoon of July 8 to give feedback and reflect on my experience. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I do not want to miss out on!
