This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Because our school was built in the 1950's, our classroom lacks adequate storage space for our free choice reading books. My students do not need a bookshelf that is too small; our picture books won't fit. My students do not need a bookshelf that is too tall; they cannot reach the books. My students do not need a bookshelf that is just the right size for them to see and reach all of our wonderful books. They need a Goldilocks bookshelf that is "just right!"

The love of reading creates a firm foundation for educational growth.

My students need to have access to books at their various reading levels to become stronger, more independent readers. These young readers must be able to see, reach and look at a variety of books in order to find their next "just right" book to read.

We do not have an adequate bookshelf, so currently most of our classroom library is stored in cardboard boxes. I rotate smaller selections of books continually throughout the school year. Unpacking, sorting, re-packing and dsiplaying new books on a regular basis demands a lot of extra time that needs to be focused on planning and preparing lessons. Your donation can help provide our classroom with a special bookshelf to display our entire classroom library. I know their little faces will be beeming when my students walk into the room one morning to find a bookshelf that is "just the right size" for them filled with books that are "just right" for each student.
