My students need culturally based resources, such as genuine cultural artifacts, and classroom economy materials, such as snacks, for strong incentives.

My students all come from a background with no room for luxury. Many have no books at home or access to quality supplies, reading materials or current and culturally focused resources.
We value global citizenship and its impact on the empathy and effort of our students.
At our school, we encourage our students to be global citizens from the first day of kindergarten, all the way through fifth grade graduation. We are proud to produce students who seek change in the world and recognize themselves as an important factor in that.
This project is a collection of resources, such as cultural artifacts and essential items in our classroom economy to help make the classroom more culturally focused and strengthen the effectiveness in our classroom management strategies.
As a global school, we encourage our students to become global citizens at an early age.
Understanding that you are part of something bigger is difficult for many students, so we do this through active participation in global and local service projects as well as in depth instruction based on global topics. The addition of artifacts and the global feel in the classroom are important.
My project includes artifacts for the classroom, such as Indian rugs and pillows, that allow students to feel comfortable in their learning environment while appreciating other cultures. My project also includes snacks for the classroom, which are vital to our classroom economy. Students earn points for awesome behavior and are able to spend their points on certain items like a special snack or technology time. This classroom economy helps our class display positive behavior on a regular basis and receive instant rewards for making great decisions.
