This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a new teacher this year, looking to give my students in a low-income area a look at current events. I work at a Global Studies Magnet school where students are exposed by a weekly lesson into another culture, its language, its religion, and other contributing factors. My students are bright and have big aspirations, they are kind and inquisitive- always looking at things from a different angle. They are high in math and do very well at solving problems.
My Project
Scholastic News will allow students the ability to read about current events and articles on topics that matter to them.
The use of relevancy in a classroom is forever a striving goal; with Scholastic News, students are given a bi-weekly glimpse into the world around them.
I have seen this subscription go beyond the moment it is used. Students will reference what they have read and keep the knowledge gained with them throughout multiple subjects and discussions.
This subscription comes with web-based resources that extend into the wold of technology; with videos, quizzes, and interactive games, students can dive deeper in the content.
