I serve first-grade students who live in the heart of the Appalachian mountains of Eastern Kentucky. There is an equal mix of girls and boys. They are fun-loving, bright, energetic, and extremely eager learners. They each absorb information like a sponge. They love learning.
They are at a very critical time in their life, the beginning stage of reading and writing.
Their focus should be on learning, rather than what they don't have or what they need to be successful in school.
My Project
The resources I'm requesting include surface cleaners, along with an ample supply of Clorox wipes and Lysol spray. These materials will be used to ensure students have a readily available supply of the necessary materials to remain as germ-free as possible. The Clorox wipes will be used to sanitize the surfaces of their desks at the end of each day and during times in which the extra swipe is needed such as before and after snack time. Also, I'm requesting baby wipes for my students. They need these to wipe their little faces and hands. Each day they are provided a snack that seems to end up on them. If I can provide them with wipes, the spreading of germs can be deterred.
Illness definitely affects student attendance.
With these materials, there is a greater chance of deterring illness, which results in students being in school each day, allowing for the learning process to take its course. You can make an impact on my students by giving to this project.....we want to be as germ free as we can be!
