The First Lady has revolutionized the way we view food and eating! She created a garden at the White House and involved students. We want to make our own vegetable garden and to learn about the health benefits of eating good, nutritious food.
I have a wonderfully diverse classroom, with students who have come from several continents.
My students speak English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Chinese. It is exciting to work with all of these young people. Our unit will unite all of our students with a common goal here in Oklahoma.
My Project
We will be able to grow a vegetable garden like the one Michelle Obama planted with Washington area students. We want to paint our gardens with our new paint brushes, and use our laptop to create a book about our gardening venture. The books I have requested will enhance our learning and understanding of the project we have undertaken.
At the heart of a healthy life is the ability to make good choices about the food we eat.
It is proven that if children are allowed to help make decisions about their food, and participate in a project like growing a garden, they will be more likely to make healthy choices in the future.
